Not convinced? Let’s demystify some of the facts and questions surrounding facial cleansing brushes.

My skin is sensitive, can I use this device?

As with any new skincare routine, product or accessory it’s always a good idea (and one we’d advise) to thoroughly test the device on an area of your skin, before introducing it as a permanent feature. This is especially important if your skin is sensitive but there is absolutely no reason why you can’t incorporate a facial cleansing brush into your once-weekly routine. Simply take your time and give your skin a chance to adjust accordingly.

How to use a facial cleanser on sensitive skin use:

  • Don’t overuse, once or twice a week is the optimal amount.
  • Apply gentle pressure. Let the cleansing brush do the work.
  • Use on both your face and neck for a deeper clean.
  • Use with your usual cleansing wash.

Will a facial cleanser irritate my skin?

If you’re using your facial cleanser correctly and not on a continuous basis, then it shouldn’t irritate your skin. Preparing your skin prior to use is also key to the effectiveness of the cleanser. It’s a great idea to remove your make-up before use to ensure you’re not pushing any make-up residue deeper into your pores.

The first time you use a facial cleanser, you might notice some redness but this is likely to only be whilst your skin adjusts to the new technique.

Tips for using a facial cleanser:

  • Give your skin a chance to adjust.
  • Re-introduce the device slowly, if you see any adverse effects.

How to avoid bacteria build-up?

If you keep your facial cleanser clean, bacteria won’t be an issue but you’ll need to ensure you clean the brush head thoroughly after every use.

Tips to avoid facial cleanser bacteria buildup:

  1. Wash the brush head with warm water and your usual facial cleanser, or unscented soap.
  2. Massage the soap into the brush head thoroughly for a couple of minutes.
  3. Rinse thoroughly with warm water.
  4. Lay the brush on a clean towel to dry.
  5. Soak the brush head in rubbing alcohol once a week.
  6. Replace your brush head every 3 to 4 months.

Can I use a facial cleanser with breakouts and acne?

Ensuring your face is clean can help to reduce the build-up of excess sebum, which contributes to acne and skin flare-ups. Using our facial cleanser brush correctly and regularly will ensure the skin is kept clean and any excess oil, dirt and make-up have been effectively removed, allowing your skin to breathe.
